📻⚡️Like a source of light you always hoped 📻⚡️Like a source of light you always hoped you could make permanent, we at Radio Boise mourn the loss of one of our greatest volunteers, Russell Bridges.

Russell passed away on June 6th. Russell appeared at our station one day, as if he had popped out of thin air. Tall, dreadlocked, tanned, he looked like someone who had fallen off a jam band tour bus. But he was there to help. That he did this in spades is an understatement.

Russell was funny, goofy, dogged, talented, and it felt like, during certain eras, everywhere…a ski lift operator at Bogus, a guy you would see crawl out of a truck parked downtown during Treefort so he could be closer to the action, or even on video with his extraordinary method acting when playing a dustbowl good samaritan driving an electric car on our electric car raffle campaign.

You can hear his work all over our airwaves…his best Andy Griffith Ritz Cracker commercial voice in our “Y’all Are Welcome Here” imaging spot, playing the guy who mooches at “unsuspecting nonprofit” fundraisers in the “Buttery Biscuits” Radiothon promo, or the beleaguered, browbeaten husband resignedly saying “let’s go get some deck stain” in our Full Legal ID called Stars are just a few examples.

Stars? Russell was that, without the ego. In the course of our existence here in our shared radio experience, getting close to people is inevitable. It is not always common though, to still feel that warmth when you realize just what a legacy their life has left you. Russell Bridges was a rock star in work clothes. And his presence, maybe like permanent light after all, is part of Radio Boise's DNA.

Look for a tribute on our airwaves coming soon, and we’ll keep you informed about any memorial services for Russell for those of you who knew him.

They empower neighbors at risk of losing their homes, ensuring they stay housed and supported.

We'll also have our Spring Radiothon premiums available to pick up! If you donated during Spring Radiothon and chose to receive a thank you gift, tonight is the night to swing by!
