The Monthly Mixdown

Happy March! Despite the unexpected snow, Spring is in the air (wait…maybe it’s Treefort that we’re smellin’) and Radio Boise is coming out of its winter hibernation with a bang. We have a lot of good times around the corner–won’t you join us?

To kick off the festivities, Monday, March 20th from 4-6pm, we are hosting a Pre-Fort Fundraiser happy hour for the community at Broadcast Coffee, in partnership with Oatly! We will be spinning tunes, and inviting folks to bring their friends and plan their Treefort week with a yummy bevy from Broadcast (coffee, non-caffeinated, boozy, and NA beverages will be available).

Proceeds from Oatly drinks during this happy hour will go to Radio Boise, helping us keep all of your favorite shows on air and in your ears! Three cheers to our fabulous partners, Broadcast Coffee and Oatly. We hope to see you there!

Radioland!

This year, Radioland is being hosted at the Julia Davis Bandshell! We are so excited to be at this venue–it is free and open to the public, and we have a spectacular lineup.

To take a look at all of the tunes that will be happening at Radioland, search for “Bandshell” on the Treefort app. We also have some rockin’ new merch for sale, that will be dropping day one of the festival! Here’s a little sneak peek:

We are partnering with Modern Sounds to do a Vinyl Showcase on Sunday, March 26th between sets. Radio Boise DJ’s will be doin’ their thing, spinning their favorite vinyl, and chatting tunes with the public. Come down and high-five our stellar programmers who have crafted their very own vinyl set, just for you!

Don’t forget our In-Studio performances. This year, we will not only be hosting bands down at the station throughout the festival, but we will also be doing live remotes from Radioland! There are so many opportunities to catch live music on Radio Boise this year.

Spring Radiothon!

Holy cow, Radiothon is just around the corner! This year, Spring Radiothon will be held April 12th through 25th. Mark your calendars and get ready for some hot takes, even hotter peppers, and, as always, coming together as a community to help support your independent, free-form radio station!

Radiothon volunteer sign ups are live, and we need your help. You can click the button below to sign up for a Pit Boss or Phone Banker shift. Come sit in during your favorite show, help answer phones, and have a blast!

Programmer Spotlight!

Radio Boise wouldn’t be the awesome people-powered radio station that it is without the amazing community of volunteers and programmers backing us up every step of the way. That is why we’re psyched to be bringing back programmer spotlights, so you can see the faces behind the magic.

This month’s Programmer Spotlight is on Erica—co-host of one of our newest shows, The Aura, Thursdays from 9-Noon:

“Hey there my name is Erica, host of the Aura. I grew up in Boise and ever since I can remember I’ve always loved music. As a teen I used to go to shows at the old Boise Venue and the Crux, then in 2012 I heard about the Treefort Music Festival and have been volunteering or attending since.

I first discovered Radio Boise back in 2013. During that time I worked at a place where we only had access to an FM radio for music. I often dreaded listening to the same 20 songs all day until I stumbled upon Tennis Court Disco while channel surfing. I’ve been tuned in ever since.

I became a programmer in 2014 and hosted the Psych Sirens with my friend Baeleigh, then took a hiatus in 2017. Last year I became reconnected with Sadie Mayhem, host of Femme Fatale, and became involved with the station again, subbing for other programmers here and there and now sharing the Aura’s Thursday morning time slot with Pace.Jackson.

My favorite programs are Tennis Court Disco, Femme Fatale, Hot Potato, Strange Feeling, and The Rapture. I honestly love most shows on the station and love being part of the community sharing music.”

Here’s to all of our incredible programmers, our fabulous volunteers, our hard-working staff, and to YOU!
