FREE SHOW at The Record Exchange Tomorrow (10/29)

KRBX PRESESNTS: Donnie Emerson with Nancy Sophia will perform live at The Record Exchange on Tuesday, October 29 (5:30pm). This free, all-ages in-store set, the duo’s only Boise appearance on their fall tour!

The performance will feature songs from Emerson’s “Dreamin’ Wild” and “Still Dreamin’ Wild” albums (Light in the Attic), plus new compositions he and Nancy have written together. Emerson’s lost classic “Baby,” featured on the 1979 private press album “Dreamin’ Wild” that he recorded as a teenager with his brother Joe at their home studio in Washington state, was the inspiration for the 2023 biopic starring Casey Affleck and Zooey Deschanel.
A “Dreamin’ Wild” album and video signing will follow the performance.

Pacific Northwest isolation mixed with wide-eyed ambition, a strong sense of family and the gift of music proved to be quite the combination for teenage brothers Donnie and Joe Emerson. Originally released in 1979, “Dreamin’ Wild” is the sonic vision of the talented Emerson boys, recorded in a family-built home studio in rural Washington state. Situated in the unlikely blink-and-you-missed-it town of Fruitland and far removed from the late 1970s punk movement and the larger disco boom, Donnie and Joe tilled their own musical soil, channeling bedroom pop jams, raw funk and yacht rock.

Donnie’s song “Baby” inspired the 2023 biopic “Dreamin’ Wild” starring Casey Affleck and Zooey Deschanel and has been interpolated and covered by Ariel Pink, DāM-Funk and John Legend. Donnie’s original songs have been placed in multiple movies, television shows and commercials nationally and worldwide.

Nancy Sophia (singer/musician/songwriter), who is an accomplished conga, cajon, bongo and hand percussionist, has been performing on stage and writing and recording in studios for most of her life. She also has an extensive background in musical theatre, film and dance.

For years Donnie and Nancy Sophia have toured and performed alongside each other in the US, Europe and Asia. Their live performances consist of songs from “Dreamin’ Wild” and “Still Dreamin’ Wild” plus new compositions they have written together, including “When a Dream is Beautiful”, which they performed in the “Dreamin’ Wild” movie
