Support Our Radio for Youth Program
Join Radio Boise in amplifying youth voices this Giving Tuesday!
What’s the best way to get more youth involved in radio? Hands on!
In collaboration with JUMP’s Play Studio, Radio Boise is creating a video series, meant to guide youth into creating their own material, discovering their own voices, and getting on the radio.
We all know how some younger audiences have moved away from radio. Streaming services, easily accessible video and social media have taken some of its place. We also know that younger folks are turning back to their locally-produced media. Did you know that Radio Boise has new 17 year-old, 18 year-old, and 20 year-old programmers? It’s all part of what we’re seeing out there, the dissatisfaction with faceless algorithms and the return to more personal investment in stories and music.
Radio Boise’s “Podcast in Progress” series, consisting of seven short instructional videos, will give students across The Treasure Valley a chance to discover their own voices, learn how to tell a story and familiarize themselves with the basics of audio editing. Those who really take to it will be in line to broadcast their pieces on KRBX and maybe begin the process of being radio broadcasters themselves.
Your donation to KRBX on Giving Tuesday would help us to:
Finance the hard-working staff who will bring this project to life;
Help us distribute, provide outreach resources and embed ourselves into the local school system;
Provide us with means to teach once we have star students here, who will be guided through developing programming and providing youth with a fixed place on our broadcast schedule where their voices can be heard;
Help us keep up with the audio and visual equipment needed to make sure we are up to date with the best means to teach students meaningful techniques.
